My Trip to Nantucket | A Review of The Island

Welcome back!!

Summer getaways are always an exciting experience to look forward to.  However, my recent summer getaway was one that represented more than just a great vacation, and here’s why.

This trip to Cape Cod was my first time traveling since January 2020.  Although last January seems like ages ago, seeing it in writing puts even more emphasis on the significance of this trip. In early spring of this year, after getting fully vaxxed, I caught the travel bug again.  I decided to re-enter the world of leisurely travel with a trip to Hyannis, MA. I planned to sit by the ocean, read a good book, order some fresh seafood, and see what kind of treasures I could find from local shops and boutiques. Never one to leave the house without my camera, I figured a few impromptu photo sessions may be necessary too.

Luckily for me, I was not traveling alone which would have made my photo sessions way more boring.  My friend Dana who you’ve previously seen on the blog was able to accompany me.  She suggested we visit the island of Nantucket while we were down the Cape, and this change to the itinerary made the trip! While the weather wasn’t fully on our side, we still managed to cover most of the island over the course of two days. Good food, beautiful beaches, and kind people were our takeaways.  Of course, the picturesque scenery that is Nantucket was the backdrop for all the above too.

Despite the weather, visiting the island before the summer season really kicked-off ended up working in our favor.  There were endless empty sidewalks, not a lot of cars on the narrow streets, and many peaceful bike/walking trails. Biking around the island gave me a renewed appreciation for fitness, as I realized how out of shape I was.  Yup, I started up my daily yoga routine Monday morning after my return. Even though I don’t consider myself a “nature-girl”, (I do my best work from behind my laptop), Nantucket did give me a better appreciation for land conservation. The island was the perfect destination to start a new chapter after a tumultuous last year.  I will be back!

A Great Place for a Girl’s Trip!

Nantucket Island, MA

I’m excited to share with all of you, a glimpse into my summer getaway on the island of Nantucket.  Earlier this summer, I journeyed to the island for the first time with my friend Dana.  After a whirlwind of a trip, (the weather wasn’t on our side), we decided to go back for another try.  We brought our friend Steph for round two, and luckily the weather was gorgeous!

Our weekend getaway was equal parts enjoyable and beneficial as we curated content throughout the trip. I think it’s evident we were on the island as happy wanderers, but also to partake in a photo session. How could I not take advantage of the picture-perfect scenery, that is the island of Nantucket? The narrow roads made of cobblestone and brick were our version of the yellow-brick road, guiding us throughout the island.  The sea breeze at our backs made walking, instead of biking, an effortless adventure.  During my first trip, we biked around most of the island to cover more ground.
