3 Easy Ways to Level Up Your Skating
1) Level Up Your Gear:
The right skates & blades make all the difference (Jackson Ultima, Riedell Skates, & Edea Skates are a few popular & trusted brands).
Visit your local pro-shop to get your skates custom fitted & heat molded to fit your unique foot-needs.
Look forward to investing at least a few hundred dollars in new skates even if you’re at beginning of your skating journey. A well-fitting pair (new or used) will protect your ankles & feet.
2) Layer Up Your Fit for Practice:
Always wear layers when you’re skating, even during warm weather months because most indoor rinks are cold year-round.
It’s easy to point out people who are new to the sport— they usually dress to look cute or comfortable instead of for warmth.
Layer up too much & you’ll look like a giant snowman, lol!
You can’t go wrong with a black coat, hoodie/sweater, leg warmers & mittens during the colder months.
Be prepared by having hand warmers, extra gloves, a scarf & tissues in your skating bag too.
3) Always Wear Your Hard Guards:
You’ve invested in your figure skates, don’t ruin them by walking around without protection for your blades.
There are many different types of hard guards to choose from (Guard Dog, Rockerz & Edea are a few I recommend).
I’ve used Guard Dog brand hard guards for new or growing skaters because you can cut them down to fit the size of your blades & they come in so many different color ways.
