Two Simple Habits to Change Your Mind About Investing in Yourself

simple ways to invest this year

Investing in yourself isn’t easy to do.  Especially for those of you who never put yourselves first.  The best way to start investing in yourself, is by taking small steps towards big goals.

The reality of your current situation, well, let’s break it down:

  • Your rent is due next week.

  • This month’s utility bills are staring at you from the kitchen table.

  • A three-night stay at your dream hotel is the same amount as your car repair estimate.

  • Let’s not forget about your cell phone bill & all the regular expenses of your daily life.

You start thinking of how expensive all your bills are compared to your bank account.  A sense of dread washes over you & the overwhelm of life kicks in.

Can you relate to sometimes feeling overwhelmed by being an adult?

Instead of booking your dream vacation you close out all the tabs on your browser & go back to watching the snowfall.  But it's too easy to let life get in the way of you living.

Sometimes responsibilities take precedence over the things we want to do for ourselves.  When is the last time you followed through with a dream, hope, or aspiration you’ve been thinking about?

While I’m not a personal development or mindset coach, I do believe everyone can achieve their ambitions by setting goals & challenging their limiting beliefs.  Taking a dream vacation might not seem like the most ambitious goal, but like finding your personal style, it’s a start.

I am a personal stylist, & often I hear from people that they’re not ready for the investment of hiring me or buying new clothes yet.

“…boost your confidence, increase your self-worth & help you make the transformative change…”

My job isn’t to pressure you into all the ways finding your personal style can help you.  Or, convince you how this one step can transform your life, career, branding & positioning.  Instead, I suggest you think of this investment in a different way.

Change up your mindset from, “I can’t afford it,” to “I can’t afford it right now.”

Continue planning your dream vacation. Look for the 5+ star hotel you saw on Instagram.  Create a Pinterest board with your ultimate vacation wardrobe ideas.  Book yourself that window seat with extra legroom.

Continue saving for the investment of a personal stylist who will boost your confidence, increase your self-worth & help you make the transformative change needed to elevate your life & style.

In fact, plan these investments down to the last penny.  Give yourself a total, & track how much you’re able to put aside week to week.  Direct deposit $50- $100 from your paycheck to your savings account every week, (or whatever amount you’re comfortable with).

If you do that for an entire season, or 12 weeks, your savings adds up to $600- $1200!  Wow!  This is why setting your goals high to achieve something for yourself is so important.  You’ll be taking small steps towards your big goal.
