In case you haven’t notice, sweatshirts and hoodies are the new wardrobe staples.

Unlike so many trends which flow in-and-out of popularity throughout the year, a sweatshirt never gets old.  If you’re like me, post 2020, your sweatshirt/hoodie collection is ever growing.

I don’t think I’ve owned this many versions of comfortable pullovers since college.

While sweatshirts are essential, sometimes it’s difficult to not feel sloppy, or unproductive when wearing them.

No worries!  AKCstyle is here to help you navigate this common style issue. There’s nothing wrong with wearing your favorite “loungey” pieces outside the house.

Here are a few helpful tips to guide you in the stylish direction:

1. Avoid logos or branding

Avoid logos or branding stamped on the front or back of your sweatshirts. Opt instead, for a plain color like the one pictured below.

2. Choose an unusual neckline or shape.

The one we chose for this photoshoot is from H&M. It looks like a hoodie, but it’s actually a cowl neck, completely hoodless.

3. Swap out your sneakers for boots.

While this tip doesn’t relate directly to your choice of sweatshirt, the shoes you choose always change your overall look.

We chose to wear a pair of Allen Edmonds boots in a charcoal grey for this look.

4. Add a few accessories

Like the choice of footwear mentioned above, adding a watch or bracelets will always elevate your casual look.

5. Choose your outerwear accordingly

We paired this casual look with a denim jacket to keep it, well, casual. However, wearing a long coat, or a printed jacket, or even a leather jacket would completely change up this look too.

Would you ever wear a pullover like the one in this photo session
